Full-Time, high school Latin and/or French teacher
Mount Saint Mary Academy

Mount Saint Mary Academy seeks a full-time, high school Latin and/or French teacher to join our teaching faculty for the 2025-2026 Academic Year.  We are seeking a versatile educator able to teach French and Latin, with responsibilities shaped by student enrollment patterns.  The ideal candidate is an experienced teacher who possesses a collaborative mindset and passion for teaching world languages.  The candidate strives to incorporate 21st century learning principles and modern language pedagogies in their craft.  The candidate should also possess an openness to contribute to the school community outside of the classroom.

Qualifications:
  • Master's degree (preferred) or Bachelor's degree in Classics, French, Education, and/or other related field
  • Demonstrated fluency in Latin and native or near-native proficiency and familiarity with the French language and culture.
  • 2+ years high school teaching experience (preferred)
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with colleagues and to communicate with students and parents
  • Experience with Comprehensible Input (CI) strategies and pedagogy is preferred, but not required
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional development

Key Responsibilities
  • Build a classroom culture in which students engage with the language in authentic ways and integrate interpretive, interpersonal, and presentational modes of communication
  • Integrate technology in the classroom in engaging and meaningful ways
  • Differentiate instruction and assessment for students, as appropriate
  • Stay appraised of current language teaching pedagogies and research
  • Willingness to collaborate in the design and evaluation of curriculum
  • Develop and support positive leaning environment with students and will effectively communicate with students and families about student progress
